This book was simply brilliant! Although its geared towards young children, Wonder is for anyone who knows the hardships growing up with a physical abnormality.
R.J. Palacio’s take on a real life situation plays out in a character named August Pullman. Having undergone 27 surgeries before the age of 10 “Auggie” had grown comfortable being homeschooled, until his parents decide the older he gets the more beneficial it would be to be among his peers. For the first time Aggie navigates the fifth grade at Bleecher Prep where he’s faced with all kinds of hardships due to his facial condition.
R.J. Palacio captures the innocence of a coming of age boy, who understands that life has dealt him a bad hand.
The book was so good that its actually going to be made into a movie staring Julia Roberts.
This is the perfect book if you or someone you know is going through a difficult time, whether that be a kid, teenager or adult.
