This woman thought her itchy skin was a sign of eczema, until she was diagnosed with cancer

This story is petrifying and eye-opening. It’s important to always pay attention to your skin! If you feel like something is wrong, trust your gut. Get your body/skin check out.

I would show my arms and legs where my skin had got infected, so they were prescribing me lots of different creams and shower treatments to deal with it

Eleanor Rooney a 26 year-old from the UK, had gone through a severe bout of eczema in when she was a senior in college.

She knew something wasn’t right when she discovered eczema in places she normally doesn’t get it. Due to this, she decided to get check out. Which the doctors assured her it nothing more than her dry and sensitive skin.

Unfortunately, she felt a lump under her collarbone. She decided it’s better to be safe then sorry and get her bump checked out.

I suppose discovering a lump in your collarbone is a bit different to, say, your breast – or somewhere that we have grown up knowing is a warning sign and an indication of cancer

Doctors discovered two small lumps which turned out to be 2 Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, after seeing it show up on CT scan.

Up until that point I thought I was healthy. I had been in the gym the week before and felt totally fine

The timing couldn’t have been worse for Eleanor as she was interviewing for a job in law.

The consultant who gave me the diagnosis had said that this was only a pause in my life, and it really stuck with me. It was a real comfort.

Eleanor had to undergo 6 months of chemo.

I was ready to put the whole experience behind me. I was happy to be done with chemotherapy and to let my hair grow!
