Confession – I LOVE this show!!!
Last night I happened to catch an episode of Dr. Pimple Popper on TLC, and I must say I truly loved the format of the show.
Dr. Sandra Lee is a board certified dermatologist who practices in Southern California. She gained notoriety from her YouTube videos, as many ‘popaholics’ found pleasure in watching her squeeze out blackheads, whiteheads, liquids, making incisions and everything else in between.
At the end of the day, the reason for all of this is really to educate people, and to help them take better care of their own body and skin
As someone who LIVED in the dermatology offices, I thought Dr. Sandra Lee was really personable to all of her patients. She was friendly, yet firm and really got down to business. Most importantly, she showed that she cared and that is HUGE. I’ve always felt that ‘personality’ is something medical professionals should to work on, as many have a cold demeanor.
After watching the first episode, I’ve gravitated towards the tv show more than the YouTube videos. On the show you’re able to hear the backstories. As a eczema suffer it was extremely relatable listening to the stories about their depleting confidence.
Dr. Sandra Lee mentioned that anytime she does a procedure, she likes her patients to be fully engaged and understand what’s going on while she removes [said] item from their body. In fact, she even lets them touch and squeeze it. I thought this was pretty clever and once they can physically see or touch the burden that was weighing them down, it was closure for the patients to heal.
I recommend this show, if you can stomach these types of medical procedures, as its really interesting to see how buildups can affect our bodies.
