Beyond the Mediterranean Diet by Layne Lieberman

Beyond the Mediterranean Diet

I’ve always read that the mediterranean diet was good for your skin. Although, when your ‘gifted’ with an skin condition they always say eat this and don’t eat that. It becomes white noise after a while. Although I happened to see an article about Layne Lieberman so I decided to see what her book is about. It actually makes a lot of sense as to why this might be good for skin. I may purchase this sometime in the near future.

About the book – Layne talks about her career of educating supermarkets into selling organic and natural foods as main stream offerings. She lived and Europe and that was sparked her to write this book. She became enlightened into the European dietary secrets. The three healthiest countries in Europe are Italy, Switzerland and France.

So what are the dietary secrets – They don’t count calories, carbs and fat grams, they consume less sugar, fruit juice soft drinks, snack less, spend less time eating and MORE TIME SOCIALIZING. Also, invest more in quality over quantity.

She also explains that in modern America its very difficult to sustain a mediterranean lifestyle. This is because advertisements and marketers spend tons of money to luring you to the unhealthy foods. However it is not impossible.

Mediterranean Diet consists of – Olive oils, grains, legumes, fruits, vegetables, fish, and animal protein. Moderate amounts of dairy and wine.

Its a very interesting video and worth the watch, so check it out.
