An Eczema Sufferer Looks to Reiki for Healing

I’ve never heard of Reiki, let alone it helping eczema until I read this article.

Ashley Pang who lives in Hong Kong suffered from eczema from a very young age. Having tried many different Western Medicines such as topical steroids, anti-allergy meds, antihistamines and supplements – she was getting nowhere.

Her condition was so bad that she actually pulled out of a friends wedding at the last minute. This was due to her following a strict regimen that was supposed to help the healing process. Unfortunately, this healing process left her feeling ‘tortured’ for over a year.

“I was crying, asking ‘What is happening?’” she says. It was especially challenging for someone who worked in the world of fashion public relations – an industry where looks count – and she regularly wore hats to conceal her condition.

Her regimen consist of all natural solutions, diet & exercise, which led her to feel 90% better. Ashley’s boss is a reiki master and after hearing how it helped her husbands eczema, she decided to give it a try. So she incorporated private reiki sessions along with her regimine. Reiki is a Japanese technique that promotes healing through by relaxation and stress relief.

I haven’t taken any medication for two years now. I feel lucky to have met lots of people who introduced me to different things that helped me find a way.

In addition, she did a 7 day fasting camp in Taiwan, which ultimately helped her align with universal energy to feel better. Comparing it to meditation, she says it helped her become calmer and more goal oriented. Not to mention it helped clear her skin.

When she has an eczema outbreak her go-to is : “omega-3s, vitamin A and E, and neem, which are [powdered] leaves [from the neem tree, or Indian lilac]. Neem is taken in capsule form and it’s popular in India. I also use tea tree lotions.”

*What I found interesting was her take on eczema patients being told to cut foods that produce mold. I’ve never heard of this before.

Her diet was altered to include a lot more vegetables and less meat, cheese, bread, and french fries.

As far as lifestyle changes, Ashley meditates once a day, does reiki and goes to the gym twice a week.

I thought this was a great article to bring a different perspective on coping/healing her eczema.
