5 Hand Sanitizers That Are Eczema Friendly…ish

Apparently, Winter and Spring aren’t getting along and constantly fighting – which has the Northeast in a weird transitional weather pattern. Either way, allergies and colds are still lurking around, which is never fun.

So I thought it would be best to compile a list of eczema friendly…ish hand sanitizers. This is due to the snot filled tissues, coughs, colds and the sheer fact that tons of events take place in the Spring and Summer. And for those of us that can’t handle the cheap hand sanitizer because it burns once it touches our sensitive skin, here are some friendlier ones.

  1. Dr. Bronner Organic Hand Sanitizer (lavender)
  2. All Good Hand Sanitizer
  3. Grove Collaborative Hydrating Hand Sanitizer
  4. EO Hand Sanitizer Spray- Organic Lavender
  5. Germ-X Natural Hand Sanitizer Spray

Also, don’t hesitate to curate a DIY hand sanitizer if you find that works best for you.

  1. Any suggestions for eczema friendly hand sanitizer without fragrance? My hands are so sensitive; I can’t use any fragrance at all.

    1. Hi Trinity,

There are two that I like – Trader Joe’s Grapefruit & Lemon hand sanitizer spray. It has moisturizing aloe vera and vitamin E. Also, Everyone for every body coconut + lemon spray which also has moisturizing properties. Now I will admit they do sting a bit if you have sores or a cut, but overall I really enjoy these two. I would give them a try. 🙂 I hope this helps.

  2. I definitely will have to try out some of these.

I feel like this is one of the many the catch-22’s of eczema. You need to keep your skin clean so you don’t increase your risk of infection, but the hand sanitizers that are most readily available in doctors offices, grocery stores, etc feel terrible on skin and dry it out, which makes it more susceptible to cracks and cuts.

I did a rotation in a hospital a while back and I hated the sanitizer, which was unfortunate because I had to use it so frequently.

    1. I always struggle with this too! My hands feel like they’re on fire if the hand sanitizer gets into an infected spot.

But also, washing them too much is a nightmare in an of itself. lol
